The Library is excited to offer a limited number of scholarships to adult learners ready to earn their diplomas and advance in their careers.
Career Online High School (COHS) is an 100% online high school diploma and career certification program. Students will receive all the support they need from a personal academic coach and the Library team to earn their diplomas within 18 months. Students will also graduate the program with a career certificate, which shows employers that students have the background knowledge they need to be successful in their field.
With COHS, students will:
- Earn an accredited high school diploma
- Take classes online with 24/7 access to homework and resources
- Have access to personal academic coachers
- Create a job readiness portfolio complete with a resume and cover letter

Program Outline
Students have 18 months to complete the high school diploma program; however, many complete the program in 3 to 4 months, depending on how many courses they need.

Curriculum
Students must earn 18 credits to be awarded an accredited high school diploma and a career certificate! The following credits apply within the program:
- 4 English Language Arts credits: Grammar & Composition, Introduction to Literature, World Literature, American Literature
- 3 Social Studies credits: World History, American History, American Government & Economics,
- 1 Health/PE credit: Health & Personal Fitness
- 3 Science credits: Earth & Space Science, Physical Science, Biology
- 3 Mathematics credits: General Math, Consumer Math, Algebra
- 4 Career Elective credits: In the chosen career path
Transfer Credits
COHS grants transfer credit for courses students have already completed at other accredited institutions, which can accelerate program completion. Students may transfer in up to 14 courses. Contact your previous schools for copies of your transcripts or download the Transcript Request Form and send it to any past schools attended.
Who Qualifies?
A limited number of COHS Scholarships are available to qualified patrons to successfully meet the following criteria:
• Be a resident of Sandwich, IL
• Be 21 years of age or older
• Have completed the eighth grade
• Have (or get) a library card
• Successfully complete an online self-assessment
• Can devote 8-10 hours a week
• Have access to the internet
• Complete a prerequisite course
• When the prerequisite course is successfully passed, students may may be invited for an in person interview
Already have some High School Credit? Great! Students can transfer in as many as 14 credits from other accredited institutions and only need to take the courses that they are missing.
Once you are accepted into the program, you may contact your previous high school(s) and request transcripts to be sent to COHS. COHS will then determine which credits can be counted toward your COHS diploma. Doing so may reduce the length of time to complete the program. You may also download the Transcript Request Form and send it to any past schools attended.

STEP 3: Upon completion of the survey, the Library Program Manager will contact you regarding the next steps.
Career Online Vs. GED
Career Online High School is an AdvancED/SACS/NCA/NWAC-accredited program that enables students to earn their high school diplomas while gaining real-world career skills. Making students more employable upon completion of the program.
