All residents and property owners within the Sandwich Public Library District are eligible for a free library card. These cards can be used at other libraries, such as Somonauk, Plano, Yorkville, DeKalb, etc. Please provide two forms of ID for proof of current address when applying for a library card. A library card may be issued to a child of any age. Patrons under age 18 require a parent or guardian present to sign. Parents are responsible for fines or fees charged for materials for children under the age of 18. Parent signature is required for children under the age of 18 to use library computers.

A library card allows you to:
- Check out books, movies, audiobooks, music and other materials
- Reserve materials from other libraries
- Use the library computers

- Photo ID: Driver’s License, State ID, U.S. Passport, Permanent Resident Card, U.S. Military ID, FOID Card
- First Class Mail: Credit card bill, Utility bill, Healthcare card (i.e. Medicare & All Kids), Mortgage, Vehicle registration, Current voter’s registration card
Library cards are FREE for the initial card. Replacement of a lost card is a $3.00 charge even if expired.

Educator Cards
Educator Cards
All educators working at public or private schools, preschool through high school, within the Sandwich Public Library District boundaries are eligible for an Educator Library Card. Educators must present:
- Photo ID: Driver’s License, State ID, U.S. Passport, Permanent Resident Card, U.S. Military ID, FOID Card
- Proof of Employment: School I.D., Pay Stub, Etc.
Cards are valid for one (1) year from date of issue and can be renewed with proper documentation.
Business Cards

Business Cards are offered to businesses or organizations, profit or nonprofit, that own or rent property within the Sandwich Public Library District boundaries. The business owner or manager may apply for a card in person by filling out an application. Applications must present:
- Photo ID: Driver’s License, State ID, U.S. Passport, Permanent Resident Card, U.S. Military ID, FOID Card
- Documentation with Name: Business license, Lease agreement, Property bill, Utility bill, Etc.
Cards are valid for one (1) year from date of issue and can be renewed with proper documentation.
Temporary Cards
Temporary Cards
Seasonal visitors or residents in transition temporarily residing within Sandwich Library District boundaries may be eligible to obtain a temporary borrower's card for all library services upon providing:
- Photo ID: Driver’s License, State ID, U.S. Passport, Permanent Resident Card, U.S. Military ID, FOID Card
- Letter From: Social service agency, temporary employer, landlord/property owner
Every 90 days, the temporary visitor can bring in a piece of mail or other acceptable evidence of residency to extend library privileges.
