This is a comprehensive list of upcoming and recurrent programs for adults. Online registration is offered via web calendar. You may also register in-person, or by phone at 815-786-8308. Registration is not required for programs unless noted; however, you may choose to register for any program if desired.

Please note: If programs that require registration do not reach minimum capacity 48 hours before scheduled date, the program may be cancelled. If such a situation occurs, you will be notified by phone prior to original program time.


The library will be closed Thursday, July 4th in honor of Independence Day. Regular business hours will resume Friday, July 5th.


Musical Movie Matinee
"It's Showtime!" Come to the library to experience classic and new musicals as a part of our Summer Reading Theme! Light refreshments will be provided.

4th of July Bookpage Banner Craft
July 1st | 6:30pm | $5
Celebrate Independence Day with some extra style by creating a one-of-a-kind 4th of July themed bookpage banner! Class taught by master paper-crafter Jennifer Boring. Ages 16+. Class costs $5. Program is first come first serve while supplies last!

Movie Trivia
July 13th | 12-1:30pm
Test your movie knowledge by partaking in our special Movie Trivia event! Ages 16+ can participate. No registration required. Winner will receive a gift certificate to Johnny K’s.

George Burns Alive Again and in Concert
July 16th | 6:30pm
Everyone loves George Burns! Join Broadway and film actor Duffy Hudson as he takes you on a stroll along nostalgia lane. George Burns sings, dances and tells stories like only George Burns can.
This one-man, musical, comedy performance of our beloved George Burns is sure to delight the entire family!!!

Hamilton & Broadway Musicals

Join Chicago Tribune’s Chief Theatre Critic, Chris Jones, to learn about Chicago’s history of musical theater with a special note on the currently famous musical play, Hamilton!

Adult Craft Night
1st Tuesdays |  6:30pm
Feeling crafty? Come to Adult Craft Night!  All materials will be provided. The program takes place the first Tuesday of every month. Ages 16+. Registration is required and available online or at the library. There are only ten open spots due to material provisional restraints, so make sure to register early! Registration required. Register in-person, by phone, or online by visiting our calendar event page. Note: you must register for each individual craft night session.

Reader's Haven Book Club

Come enjoy a lively discussion about the month’s club pick! Copies of the club books are available in regular, large print, and audio formats to everyone. Art Therapy 
3rd Mondays | 10:30am
De-stress & relax by enjoying a hour filled with relaxing music, camaraderie, and a varying  art styles. Be free with what you create, there are no themed projects, just themed supplies.

Chess Club
2nd Wednesdays | 6pm

3rd Thursdays | 1pm
Challenge your peers with a good, old-fashioned game of chess. Group is open to all skill levels. There is no instruction. Just come on in, find a seat and start playing. Three chessboards will be provided, but feel free to bring your own!

Mondays | 6:00pm |
