This is a comprehensive list of upcoming and recurrent programs for adults. Online registration is offered via web calendar. You may also register in-person, or by phone at 815-786-8308. Registration is not required for programs unless noted; however, you may choose to register for any program if desired.

Please note: If programs that require registration do not reach minimum capacity 48 hours before scheduled date, the program may be cancelled. If such a situation occurs, you will be notified by phone prior to original program time.

UPCOMING EVENTS

GENEALOGY Series 2: STARTING RESEARCH
November 28th | 6:30PM
Join professional Genealogist Laura Chaplin for the second event in our Genealogy series at the library! This class will cover the beginning stages of research using resources and treasures you already have!

MERRY MOVIE MONDAYS
December 3rd, 10th, & 17th | 5:30pm:
Bring the family in to the library to enjoy a classic holiday themed movie! Refreshments will be included. No registration required.

GIFT CARD MAKING CLASS
December 3rd | 6:30pm | $5
Enjoy a lively DIY craft night where you will make five unique gift card holders to use for holiday gift-giving! Class instructed by Jennifer Boring. Costs $5 to participate with a cap at 10 participants. Register today!

HOLIDAY LOCK-IN
December 7th | 6:00PM | AGES 4-14
Parents, do you need some time for Christmas shopping or gift wrapping without the kids? The library will entertain your young ones while you finish up your holiday to-do list! Kids aged 4-14 are invited to come to the library for a night filled with games, crafts, movies, food, and more! Once they arrive, kids are locked in the library until a parent or guardian pick them up. No one over the age of 18 is allowed, except for library staff and volunteers. Drop off starts at 5:45 and children MUST be picked up by no later than 8:30. Space is limited, so registration is required along with a permission slip. Permission slips are available at the library circulation desk. Registration deadline is December 4th. Please call the library with any questions.

WHO IS THE REAL SANTA CLAUS?
December 13th | 7PM
Join presenter Mike McCann to learn about the history and lore of the iconic figure: Santa Claus. Co-hosted with the Sandwich Park District, this program will joyously merge history and holiday!

IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS
December 14th | 5-7PM:
Join the library for our annual Christmas celebration! Enjoy Christmas treats, holiday themed crafts, live holiday music performed by members of the Sandwich High School Band, and a special appearance by SANTA CLAUS! Don’t forget to bring your holiday cheer!

ADULT PAINTING CLASS
December 18th | 5:30PM | $10
Join Michelle Shepard from the Petite Palette for a special Holiday-themed adult painting class! We will be painting Whispered Winter. There are only ten available spots, so be sure to register early! Payment must be made at time of registration; cash or checks. Checks should be made payable to Sandwich Public Library. Registration begins Tuesday, December 4th. Class costs $10 per person.

 

RECURRING PROGRAMS

Adult Craft Night
1st Tuesdays |  6:30pm
Feeling crafty? Come to Adult Craft Night!  All materials will be provided. The program takes place the first Tuesday of every month. Ages 16+. Registration is required and available online or at the library. There are only ten open spots due to material provisional restraints, so make sure to register early! Registration required. Register in-person, by phone, or online by visiting our calendar event page. Note: you must register for each individual craft night session.

Chess Club (NEW!)
3rd Thursdays | 1pm
Challenge your peers with a good, old-fashioned game of chess. Group is open to all skill levels. There is no instruction. Just come on in, find a seat and start playing. Three chessboards will be provided, but feel free to bring your own!

Reader's Haven Book Club
2nd Tuesdays | 6:30pm
3rd Wednesdays | 1pm
Come enjoy a lively discussion about the month’s club pick! Copies of the club books are available in regular, large print, and audio formats to everyone. Walking Wednesdays (NEW!)
Wednesdays | 10am – 11am
Get outside, get some exercise and enjoy the fresh air! Join us for a weekly walk with your neighbors and friends around town. There must be at least three attendees for program to run. Group will not meet if raining or temperature is below 45°.
